Cactus Point Brinchang, Cameron Highlands

Cameron Highlands is one of the most visited hill tops (other than Genting Highland) in Malaysia and it is located in the northern tip of the state of Pahang. For those who didn’t know, Cameron Highland also shares it’s border with the state of Perak and Kelantan. Cameron Highlands is roughly 200 kilometers from Kuala Lumpur and it takes roughly 4 hours drive through the highway. You will pass a town called Ipoh which we recommend you stop at to try their Beans Sprout Steamed Chicken Rice.

At Brinchang, Cameron Highlands, you’ll get to see many Cactus plantations where you get to explore and purchase the beautiful plants. I’ve tried buying a few of them, but only realised that they don’t really live long under the normal hot weather. Cactus is the plural name for the plant, the singular is known as a cacti. One of the famous spots in Cameron Highlands for Cactus is known as the Cactus Point Brinchang.

Cactus Point is a great place for photography too, since the vast array of color of the cactus is extremely beautiful. Price per pot ranges between RM2 right up to RM20 and other exotic cactus can range more than hundreds of ringgit. I was told that in order for the cactus to last longer, the first thing we need to do is to move them to a bigger pot. After which we need to sprinkle them with fertilizers every month.

Entrance to the Cameron Highlands Cactus Point is free of charge and they are open everyday from 8am till 6pm in the evening. There is also a restaurant and souvenir shop that you may visit.
