I’m 28 today

Wow, getting old at full speed is not something I signed up for but time seems to pass by fast nowdays, right? I guess it’s the 21st centuary thing where everyone is busy chasing their careers and dreams that they don’t spend time enjoying.

I would consider myself lucky to have been born in the center of the year. So what have I achieved for the past 28 years?

- My mum told me that when I was a baby, I used to be so friendly that nearly anyone can carry and talk to me. Normal babies would start crying. I guess till today, I get along with anyone quite easily.

- Studied quite alot. Did o’levels in England, SPM in Malaysia, Diploma and Advance diploma in Malaysia, Degree in Australia. Thanks to my parents who gave the opportunity for all of this.

- Visited England, London, Paris, Australia and Thailand. Many more to go.

- Been through a number of interesting as well as painful relationships that boggles my mind whether or not to end up getting married. Had relationships with different races, strange but true that I’ve yet to have an Indian gf.

- Believe that I have a huge knowledge database in my brains that scares people. Some also think that I seem to know everything, trust me, I don’t. Jack of all trades, master of none.

- Love theme parks especially the roller-coaster. Been to coasters all around the world, including Disneyland in Paris, Alton Towers in London, Dreamworld in Goldcoast Australia, Sunway Lagoon Malaysia, Genting Theme Park Malaysia.

- Been to at least 35% of Malaysia (wish to bring the percentage up by the time I reach 50)

- Tasted all sort of food. Malaysia, Korean, Indonesian, Japanese, Western, Eastern, weird food (including frogs, deers, roaches, worms, rabbits), still believe there are much worst food I’ve yet to try.

- Had quite a number of pets. Dogs, cats, fishes, lizards, Scorpions, hamsters, chicken, birds, bugs.

- Speak 3 languages, learning more but seems to take ages. Especially when not using the language that often.

- Experienced getting myself into deep shit of debt, and getting out of it. Thanks to my dad who help me with this. Now I only have 2 credit cards instead of 7.

- Am in control of my dream. I can dream what I want, I used to solve my programming assignments in my dream. Some call this meditation. My personal favourite is dreaming about making out with famous actresses.

- Can perform OOBE. Out of body experience, used to be fluent at this, but now is taking longer to achieve. Astral travelling is fun, expecially when you can walk through walls.

- Have the ability to read music notes and play some instruments. Used to play the Organ, a little rusty now. Self-taught myself to play the piano, but basic level only. Used to be good at Recorder and Flute during primary school. Play the guitar a little, suck at violin. My ultimate dream is to play the Saxaphone.

- Used to have my own secret language that only I could read. But due to lack of practising, have lost touch with most of the words.

- Scored 140/140 for an entry IQ test at Cotham Grammar School, England. The only person of the school history to score a full mark. Second highest was 138/140.

- Falls in love and out of love very fast. Meaning I lose interest in things very fast. Which is also good because I wanna learn more new things everyday.

- Once solved the Rubik Cube within 5 minutes. Still amazed at how I did it.

- Been through extreme hot weather and extreme cold weather. Experienced Snow before.

- Used to play to Yoyo along with Yo-Hans (back then world famous yoyo player), this was 10 years ago :)

There are alot more experiences that I’ve gone through for the 28 years of my life on earth. Not many I seem to remember right now but I’m surely looking forward to more experiences in life. So it’s happy birthday to me, little old uncle :).

Petronas Twin Tower

This is one of the greatest creation of the human species and I am proud that it resides in the heart of Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur City Centre).I have taken alot of photos of this tower, infact many has, but taking it with a bunch of creative and unique friends is a different experience all itself.

I’m also writing this blog for those who have not had the chance to visit this great structure. Malaysia itself has many facinating places to visit, by reading and following my blogs you will realise this. I’ve seen people of many races and origin lying on the streets of KL just to get a great photograph of this tower.

So let me tell you a little bit of what I know about the Petronas Twin Tower. I was actually in UK when this tower was completed, so I kinda missed the launch of it. But even though I was so far away, it hit the news in no time. All over the world were airing about this tower and at that time it was infact the Tallest Building in the World. After which the 101 Taipei took over in 2004. There are many other taller buildings that are being built, but the Petronas Twin Tower is still the Tallest Twin Buildings in the World.

From my knowledge, this tower stands up with a stagerring 88 floors (they must have chosen 88 as a auspicious number for chinese). It took 7 years to complete and was fully completed in 1998. At the 42nd floor, there’s a suspension bridge that connects both the towers. Visitors can visit this bridge but have to registed at the base of the tower early in the morning for the daily visit. I’ve yet to get a chance to visit this bridge, the queues are almost ridiculious everyday.

Outside at the main entrance is a row of water fountains, taking a photo at the end of this fountain is one of the best spots. We tried a few photography shots, but not all were as good because of the poor lighting at night. I recommend that if you want a good shot of the Petronas Twin Tower, just before sunset would be the right timing.

At the other entrance, namely the back entrance, resides a huge park called the KLCC Park. This is a very good location for jogging as they have a nice track with beautiful views. I remember once the Xtreme Games was held at this park. There is also a fountain here, but this is much better than the one that you get at the main entrance. This fountain follows and moves to a special synchronization with lightings. There is also a playground for children.

The Petronas Twin Tower also features one of the largest Shopping mall, namely the Suria KLCC. Many featured and branded boutiques are based here. Their latest edition is the Harley Davidson where you can purchase their Harley Motorcycle or merchantdise.

To end my blog, I would like to add that the Petronas Tower was climbed by the famous Spiderman (Alain Robert) in September 2009. He tried climbing this tower for a couple of tries but ended being arrested by Malaysian Authorities. Last year he managed to fulfill his dream of scalling the Tallest Twin Tower in the World.

My Creative Wallpaper

Well, many people are so creative that they can come up with funky wallpaper designs. Most that you can find is underwater themes, horizon themes, or even actresses. But since I had some free time today, I decided to be creative and come up with my own wallpaper design. It’s very simple, but it sure does keep all my icon well organized. I used Macromedia Firework to create it. Click on the photo to enlarge.

i-City Shah Alam

One of the places that were under my must visit list was i-City that is located at Shah Alam, Selangor. This place is said to have many wonderful lights.

After ourĀ  Batu Caves Trip, we managed to have some time to visit the i-City Shah Alam. The best part was that we managed to go there during the sun-set period. We had to follow a bunch of cars bumper to bumper but there were plenty of places to park at i-City. I seems that this place is still under development and that only a couple of shops are currently open.

If I were to give this place a name, I would call it the Lights Wonderland, i-City Shah Alam. Only wished that I had a DSLR to take clearer photos. Anyhow, the 10Megapixel Sony Cybershot that I used wasn’t too bad.

The i-City, is a retail and commercial hub with advanced information-communication infrastructure in Section 8 Shah Alam, and to introduce this place, it has installed millions of LED lights to brighten up the night.

Currently there are not many stalls there for Food. There is this one Cafe, namely Orange Cafe and also a row of hawker style food and drink selling. You can get things such as Keropok lekor, skewed meat balls and local drinks. There are also many children toys available for purchase at i-City

The photos below were taken that night.

Most Wonderful Bridges

This is what I received in my email a few days ago. A set of beautiful bridges, tagging it as Most Wonderful Bridges. Engineering at it’s best.

This beautiful arched bridge in Lake Austin was build by Miro Rivera Architects and is used to connect the Client’s’ main house to the smaller guest house on the other side of the pond. To make the bridge seem as natural as possible within its surroundings, They made the decking and reed-like hand rails imperfect but still structurally sound.

The original Kintai Bridge was built in 1673 but collapsed due to flooding. The rebuilt bridge survived for more than 200 years until a typhoon destroyed in 1950. The bridge that stands now over the Nishiki River has five wooden arches displaying an incredible amount of detail and craftmanship. Interesting fact: no nails or bolts have been used to build the arches, only clamps and wires.

The JK Bridge in Brasilia is a lesson in elegant bridge design. The three huge diagonal arches over the deck of the bridge give the structure an amazing visual fluidity.

Thomas heatherwick’s award-winning rolling bridge is an ingenious addition to the grand union canal System in London and is unique. Unlike regular movable canal bridges, the rolling bridge Curls up to form an octagon by way of hydraulic jacks to let ships pass.

This incredible vertical lift bridge is in Rouen, France, whose spans weigh 1,200 tons each, but can Be hoisted 180 ft vertically in an impressive 12 minutes. The angular lift structures at the top of each Tower weigh 450 tons each. The huge vertical lift allows even the largest cruise liners to sail through.

This bridge supports two pipelines - one gas, the other oil - across the extremely deep gap in Papua, New Guinea. If this were to be officially recognized as a vehicular or pedestrian bridge, it would Rocket to the top of the ‘world’s highest bridge-span‘ with the pipelines at an impressive height of 1,290 ft above the bottom of the gorge. By comparison, the current highest bridge span
Belongs to the Royal Gorge Bridge in Colorado, hanging a mere 1,053 ft above ground level.
