Pangkor Island

Continuation of our Perak & Pahang Roadtrip. On the second day, after visiting the Segari Turtle Sanctuary, we continued to Lumut and found out that the next Ferry to Pangkor Island (Pulau Pangkor) was at 3pm. We bought tickets, parked the car at a nearby Chinese Temple (which cost RM5) and proceeded to the Lumut Jetty.

As we borded the Ferry, we are allowed to sit anywhere in the ferry, it’s free seating. I went straight to the top of the Ferry to get the outside view. I’ve been to Pangkor before and standing up there while the wind blows through is amazing. The sea is clear blue, or rather green at certain point. There are alot of beautiful Island in view. There is also a Naval Shipyard where at that point a new ship was being built, not something you get to see in our everyday life. My friends, namely Hweeli, Robin and SG joined me up there later on, we took some photographs.

The Ferry journey took only 30 minutes and we were sent to this fisherman area where we are to get off. Upon exiting the jetty at the Pangkor Island, we were approached by a van driver who agreed to take us to the tourist spots on that Island for only RM50 (that’s quite worth it for 4 people). The trip around Pangkor Island takes 2 hours, with stops at the Dutch Fort, Great Wall Chinese Temple and Beach Side Temple. Each stop will take about 20minutes. We returned back to the Pangkor Jetty at around 6pm and back to Lumut Jetty by 6.30pm.

Pangkor Island is not something that you can cover in 1 day. You’ll probably need to stay there at least 3 days. There are alot of water activities that we did not have time to do. Banana Boats, Island Hoping, Scuba Diving, Snorkeling just to name a few. Click on the photos below to enlarge.
