My Selangor Story

My Selangor Story @ Thristhan.com

Eventhough I was born in the city of Kuala Lumpur, I lived most of my 28 years in the state of Selangor Darul Ehsan. During my younger years, we rented a house at Subang Jaya because my Dad was working as an Air Traffic Controller at Subang Airport, namely Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport. Years later when I was 3 years old, we moved to Klang, Royal Capital of Selangor.

Thristhan.com features interesting places that you can visit in Selangor. To start with, I would like to talk about I-City Shah Alam (Shah Alam is also the state capital of Selangor). I-City Shah Alam is a retail and commercial hub with advanced information-communication infrastructure in Section 8 Shah Alam, and to introduce this place, it has installed millions of LED lights to brighten up the night.

Just a few kilometers North of Selangor is a town called Sekinchan with vast paddy fields and windy atmosphere. This location is one of the biggest rice producers in Malaysia. Famous for fresh fruits like Mango, water apple (Jambu Air), Corn and Coconut Juice. Since Sekinchan is just beside the coast, it is also famous for Sea Food.

Food wise, Kajang Satay at Dengkil is a must try. Pulau Ketam near Port Klang is also a recommended place to eat seafood. Klang is famous for it’s Bah Kut Teh which is a herbal pork soupy dish, usually eaten with rice. If you’re around Kuala Selangor, try their famous Begger Chicken at Ijok town. The restaurant name is Ijok’s Begger Delicious Restaurant where each delicacy is marinated and wrapped in foil before heating it up in an underground oven.

Arts, Shooting and Bowling Weekend

Who would have expected for us to do so many things in one day. We’ve been jam packing out weekends and taking time in doing very interesting things like it’s going to be the end of the world very soon.

Last sunday we (Thristhan, Robin, Hweeli, Lee, and Ryan) gathered and decided to do a little shooting with real handgun and bowling after that. But before that we had to go to this art studio to purchase some paintings for a friend.

As soon as I stepped in this Art Studio, I was amazed at it. Alot of beautiful arts were scattered all around. We decided to have some fun and below are some of the trial and error photography that we managed to take.

Right after the art studio, we went to a place that was near the Kem Bina in Meru. It’s a shooting range and yes, we do use real gun for this. Ryan was a member here so he managed to take us in as well. Non-members are only allowed to this place for a maximum of 3 times, after which they will have to register as a member. Membership starts with a RM500 sign up fees, followed by a RM180 yearly fees. Each time you want to go to the range, you’ll have to purchase the bullets, handgun will be provided. We bought a set of 9mm bullets and a smaller bullet for the lady, namely Hweeli. It cost RM70 per 50 bullets for the 9mm and RM30 for the smaller ones.

We are not allowed to take any photographs at this location, but I managed to slip in a few. Readers, kindly do not report this photographs as they will be removed if anyone mentioned about it to the authorities, I’m serious.

I was thought how to hold the handgun properly, refill the bullets, plug it into the gun, aim and fire when ready. My first shot, I was told to only fill it with 1 bullet, just in case I go crazy and start oozing bullets all over. I took aim, made sure I held my breath just before firing. Fireeee. My hand was pushed backward and upward, all this while I thought the impact of a gun would be too strong, but it was. Getting a feel of it made me wanna do it more. We took turns blasting away at the targets (which we brought back home afterwards). The smaller bullets were easier to aim, lesser impact and didnt feel very good. I wanted something powerful and the 9mm bullets were the best. They also had Shotgun, bullets are around RM30 for a box of 12. But we didnt not have enough time to try them out. On top of that, we were told that many injured their shoulders after trying the shotgun.

After the shooting range, we headed for dinner. And right after dinner, it was the bowling alley. We had to wait for a while, but finally it was our turn. Ryan was the best in bowling, or at least that was what I was told. In the end, he didn’t score the highest. Lee is the one who managed to score the highest, nearly hitting the 200 marker. The loser had to do something, and it was decided that they had to squat on the chair, while holding their ears. Guess what, I was the LOSER. Scoring only 63 points. Never in the history of bowling have I scored so badly. Usually I’ll be able to hit the 100 marker. Even disappointing was, Hweeli managed to score higher than me :(. Anyway, Below are the photographs on the event.
