Famosa Chicken Rice Ball Restaurant, Malacca
Famosa Chicken Rice Ball Restaurant which is not really centrally located at the heart of Malacca tourist area is one of the restaurants that you must give a try because they are famous worldwide. Many famous celebrities have dined at this Famosa Chicken Rice Ball Restaurant.
As the name suggest, their speciality is serving chicken or pork rice with rice rolled together into balls. From the Christ Church Malacca area, we had to walk about 20 minutes to reach this restaurant. The restaurant is located at the base of Malacca Renaissance Hotel. We later found out that they have another branch along Jonker Walk.
Apart from their signature rice ball dish, the restaurant also serve rosted pork, duck, curry dishes, oyster vegetables, tomyum cabbage and many more. The dishes are prepared using traditional Hainanese chicken rice recipe and includes the mouth-watering “kampung” chicken normally found freely roaming around villages.
Initially I had thought that the rice balls were made manually using hand, but later found out that they are machine-made. The rice balls are so good, that you could eat it on it’s own.
If you have a chance to visit Malacca and this Famosa Chicken Rice Ball Restaurant, do make sure you try their Cendol which is a sweetish dessert that is famous here in Malaysia. If you happen to have some spare time, do also try Malacca’s famous Durian Cendol, probably recommended to those who love eating durian, foreigners might find it disgusting.

I see the portion of the steam chicken quite little. Somebody ate some b4 snapping photos ya?
There is a branch in Jonker street right?
@SmallKucing Hahaha, I must have swallowed a couple of pieces. Yeah, there was one at Jonker Walk as well, not really sure which is the official one though.
I think the same Hainan rice (found in Penang) but rolled into balls. Looks delicious though. Will try if I do visit Malacca.
