My Selangor Story Day 5 of 6

This is our Final Full day for the My Selangor Story.

After a late night last night, I managed to wake up quiet early, 7am to be exact because I was challenged by a bunch of them that I won’t be able to make it for breakfast that morning. Before 8am Spectre and I were already at the Atrium Cafe (Sunway Tower Hotel’s coffeehouse).

The breakfast here was one of the best for the entire trip, the buffet variety was huge. They had local Malaysian dishes (nasi lemak), American breakfast line (baked beans, sausages, pan cakes, scrambled eggs, hash browns etc), Salad corner, Bread corner, Pastries and desserts, Fruit corner, make your egg corner and many more. It was a good breakfast.

After breakfast, we headed to Kota Damansara to visit the Tropicana Medical Centre (Official Medical Centre) this is a one of a kind medical centre in Malaysia with the latest technologies and equipments. We were taken all over this centre, including places that were are not suppose to visit. They had a room for CT Scan, which stands for Computer Tomography, we were allowed to go into this room to test their equipments. KK (Norman Ng) volunteered as a lab rat for the equipments.

Next up was the Digital Mammography where a women’s breast are scanned for Cancer tissues. This is a very important device and all women who are above the age of 40 should undergo this scan every year. My grandmother was a victim of Breast Cancer and she eventually died of it, the chemotherapy was too late to be conducted. Here again as doctors always advice, it’s better for an early detection than to regret later. Recently I heard that by studying the gene of 2 generations above (grandmother and mother), you will be able to know whether genetically you will inherit breast-cancer and be able to beat it at an early stage.

In this medical centre, there is also a physiotherapy area where patients are treated. It is fully equipped with a gym studio, personal rooms for massages and also a shower room to freshen up. Of all the centres that were available here, I was particularly interested in the Fertility Centre. This is where they perform in-vitro dissemination of the Sperm and Ovum to create an embryo that will be inserted into the womb of the mother. Here we learned that a Twin can be created and born at different dates. Technology is so advance now days that we can study the gene and only select the good chromosomes to create the new baby.

I’m starting to be very technical, so let’s see what we did for lunch. After the grand tour of the Tropicana Medical Centre, we headed back to Sunway Pyramid to have lunch at a restaurant named Frames Restaurant. As it is named, the restaurant is filled with photographs that are framed everywhere, simply artistic and ingenious.

We were given a choice of 4 items on the menu to select from. They were, Stuffed Chicken Roulade, Pan Seared Dory, Kalio Bilado and Pasta Pomodoro. I don’t know where this fancy name comes from, but the display of the food looks good. Being said that, the Pasta Pomodoro that I selected wasn’t tasty at all. The pasta sauce was too chunky; I had to force myself to finish it. The other meals seemed ok and there were no complaints. As for drinks, we had Mango Kafir Blast which was quite quenching. To finish the day, Dark Chocolate Brownie with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream was server, simply scrumptious.

Next up, the best part of the day, Sunway Lagoon Theme Park. We were given all park access tickets and had until 6pm to enjoy all the rides. I love theme parks because of the thrills it gives me, kinda reminds me that I’m alive and kicking. Since I’ve been on the scary rides at before such as the Cockscrew, Solero Crush and so on, I decided to cover the much more humble rides this time. I’ve never in my many trips to Sunway Lagoon Theme Park walked on their suspension bridge, but this time I managed to experience that, the view from up there of the entire park was breathtaking. Just at the other end of the bridge, is the Malaysia’s first Bungee Jump team where for RM50 you get to experience how it feels to jump off a building. I so wanted to try this, but something in me made me chicken-out. Tian Chad on the other hand braved himself and dived for his life.

Next up we tried G-Force that takes a person from 0-120kph in 2 seconds. This is sort of a reverse bungee and you will feel of up to 5 g-force during this ride. The two brave person who went for this is Tian Chan and I, check out our video here.

One of the rides I missed, due to time constraints was the ATV. But do visit Dian’s blog and she will explain how dangerous this can be without the proper coaching.

Finally after trying alot of the fascination at Sunway Lagoon Theme Park, we went back to the hotel to freshen up for our dinner which was held at the Ampang’s Look Out Point and hosted by Haven Restaurant. Do add them on facebook.

The food at Haven was simply Heavenly. I ordered the Haven’s Special BBQ Beef Ribs and it was one huge and delightful meal. We also had a choice of Grilled Norwegian Salmon, Briyani Lamb Shank, Haven’s Special Grilled Chicken Chop, Haven’s Vegetarian Delight and last but not least the Tom Tum Fried Rice with Shrimp. There were also Lobsters, yeah that what I said, Huge Freaking Lobsters which was creamy and mouth-watering, a helping of desserts and fruits. We were given no limit to the number of drinks we wanted to order, which included fuzzies, local hot drink, milk shakes, fresh juices and many more. Also available were Shishas, which is a Arabian style smoking device. Haven also managed to slip in a performer for the night who is a member of One Night Service.

I was too into the food that I nearly forgot to tell you about the View at Ampang Look Out point. We could see both the Petronas Twin Tower and KL Tower. The whole of KL is visible from here and the night view of the light is stunning. Those with good camera would be able to capture the horizon view of the Kuala Lumpur buildings.

We ended the day with some songs sung by Kak Ning, our Official Tour Guide (she’s to register a facebook account very soon, so hopefully she’ll add us, a number by Amelia and Wen Yi. All of us had a chance to express our feeling and enlighten us with what they have experienced during the My Selangor Story. I was already starting to feel sad and tomorrow is going to be the last day till we depart this newly formed family.

@Thulsy, I would say that Haven’s dinner was the best among the entire trip. And sitting up there with the superb view and breeze, you could ask for nothing more.

@Basil, that’s what I try to show in my blogs, smooth flowing of images and write ups. That way they get a virtual tour of that particular place before they actually go there.

  7. Lilia says:

Ehemm, Nice T-Shirt, you’re daring to have used that all around.

  8. webmaster says:

@Lilia, bought that at Aussie during my degree season. I can literally speak to anyone on the street with that T-Shirt, no introduction needed :)

  9. [...] I’ve been to the Genting Highlands Theme Park so many times, and it excites me all the time. The adrenaline rush that I receive from the extreme rides are amazing. During the holidays last year, a group of us decided to go up the hill to chill and enjoy the Theme Park. One other theme park that we enjoyed was the Sunway Lagoon Theme Park. [...]
