Panorama Restaurant, Look Out Point, Ampang
Ampang in Kuala Lumpur host many great food outlets to fullfill your taste buds. What a better way to enjoy dinner while having a great view of Kuala Lumpur City horizon. I’m talking about the Look Out Point in Hulu Langat, Ampang.
This would be my second time going up the look out point mountain, and now I’m quite good at directing anyone there. The first time was during a competition and we feasted at one of the best restaurants up there which is Haven’s Restaurant. This time, we wanted to try another outlet thus Panorama Restaurant it was. If you’re on Jalan Ampang, hear towards Hulu Langat. You will passby some famous landmarks namely the Ampang Park shopping centre, Ampang Police Station and a huge Satay Restaurant, after which you are to turn right. On this road, you will notice the Ampang Carrefour on your right. Keep going straight till you see the sigh board saying Look Out Point on your left. From there onwards it’s quite easy to locate the place.
Panorama Restaurant is located at the Look Out Tower which is the highest point at the hill. Roughly about 300 meters above sea level, it is the newest restaurant in Look Out Point offering a fusion of Middle Eastern and Western Cuisine. This restaurant offers diners a unique dininig experience either at the base of the tower or at any one of the levels of the Tower, giving diners the highest view of the Skyline in Look Out Point. The dining area is in the form of open-concept, but do not fear when it rains as there are roofed platforms available too.
The view from the Look Out Point is of course breathtaking, you can see the entire Kuala Lumpur including the Petronas Twin Tower and Kuala Lumpur Tower. The weather was slightly misty when we arrived, but as time went by, it started to clear.
The choices that they had in terms of food was huge too, we had a tough time deciding what to eat. The Crispy Chicken Chop seems to be the famous order of the day. I wanted to try something else, so I went for the Grilled Salmon. Other orders included the Fish and Chips, Spaghetti, Grilled Jumbo Sausages and so on. The meals would range from RM15 right up to RM25 in general. The regular drinks were RM5 and the shakes were slightly higher at RM10. Panorama Restaurant are quite modest when it comes to the service size, a huge dude like me would be still hungry after finishing one of their sets. The total bill came to RM268 for the 12 of us.
We later found out that the owner of the Panorama Restaurant was an Arabic dude. He was kind enough to come check on us, and since it was our first time there, he gave us all a second round of Mint-Tea, free of charge.
In terms of the food, some of my colleague found it quite good. To me it was fairly average. Pricing was ok, not too costly. I had a better experience dining at Haven’s Restaurant, their dishes were authentic and eventhough more expensive, it tasted great. I would surely come to dine here again at Panorama Restaurant in the near future, not only for their food, but also for the great skyline view of Kuala Lumpur city.

heard so much abt this place. Yet to go. Glad u find the food there good coz saw some blog say so-so only
been there once.. think the food not that nice.. but the view definitely is
My friend was there recently, said she would there me there when I go to KL. Nice place… Not too much climbing, I hope…I have a phobia for stairs. LOL!!
@suituapui Nah, not too many stairs to climb, not as much as Batu Caves.
@ken Yeah, agree with you. Food is normal.
@smallkucing It was so-so only, Haven Restaurant is a better choice, you’ll love them better.
Nice post! Been there once but couldn’t remember which restaurant I went LOL!
@Charmaine The view up there is fantastic right?
Hi Thristhan, saw you at my Nuffnang page so thought I’d pop over to say hi. Thanks for sharing this place. I haven’t been there but we passed by Lookout Point on the way to a Chinese restaurant further up the road. It’s not a conspicuous restaurant with just a tiny sign by the road. It’s got its own huge fishpond and traditional dance performance. Ambiance is good but the gravel road leading to it is kinda rough though. I’m sorry I don’t have the restaurant name. Anyway, this place is very popular and as the evening wore on, more and more people came.
The food is pretty good and pricing on the higher end but bearable. They have a few specialty dishes. A must try is their salt-baked fish and their deep-fried spinach – pretty unusual the latter.
The place is run by foreigners, not sure whether Thais or Burmese. The restaurant is built on a farm sort of with brinjal plants, chicken and such around the restaurant. Pretty cool but best to go when there is light.
@Happysurfer Wow, this is the kinda comments I’m expecting from my readers. Thanks for sharing your views. The next time I go up to Ampang View Point, I’ll surely try the salr-baked fish, might skip the spinach.
