Photo Of The Day: Durian in Malaysia

Today I really felt like buying myself a basket full of durians and wanted to show you a photo that I took at home. This is a photo of the spikes on the Durian itself and this is why fruit was crowned the King of Fruits. Till today I cannot compute on why the Westerners really hate the smell and taste of the Durian fruit. They compare the smell as being like the one from a garbage or something rotting.

Now, getting to the end of the Durian Season here in Malaysia, the next time the Durians will start to sell like hot cakes is during the months of November and December. I’ve still yet to try the Durian buffet that some of the outlets are offering, particularly the Durian Buffet at SS2 Subang Jaya. I’m sure they dude who sells me the buffet is going to regret because I ain’t gonna stop eating till my tummy blows. Do share your Durian experiences with us by commenting below.

    hi there.
i once had a foreign friend who are very likely disliking durian, he’s a roommate,
so what we(local stud) do is make him out of room by torturing him with the scent, the smell which is unpleasent to him. haha.

after one day, he came back, he asked for it.

“let’s go eat some durian, it tastes like icecream”

truth is, he accidentally eat cendol durian.

    -1st time here-

#ericleeh Hahaha, it’s a very heaty fruit. Yeah, you’re right, the texture can be annoying too. For me the taste is fantastic, the flesh is good and the aroma is marvellous.

I’ve been staying in PJ more than a year and I am now even living in SS2 but i had never tried the durian buffet before. I love durian but seems like i can resist it. I still prefer durian cake and durian puff. Would love to try musang king someday but the one selling at ss2 quite expensive though :(

  12. Juliana says:

Thristhan, somehow I did not acquire the taste for durian…and not matter how I try, I cannot like it :-( It is one of the things that either you love it or you hate it. In regards to the buffet, they will definitely make a lot of money with me.
Hope you have a fantastic week ahead.
