Selangorlicious King Crab Fish Head Noodles at One Recipe Cafe, SS2 Petaling Jaya
I’m gonna hit 2 birds with 1 stone in this post. Helping a friend review his newly open outlet simply named One Recipe Cafe located at SS2 Petaling Jaya, as well as a new entry for the Selangorlicious campaign which will be ending in a couple of hours time because I loved their King Crab Fish Head Noodles.
Getting there is pretty simple. If you’re from Kuala Lumpur or Klang, on Federal Highway get on the LDP Highway, this is the Penang looking bridge at Kelana Jaya. Head towards Damansara and halfway there look out for a sign that says SS2, you’ll need to turn into this shop area. There are plenty of eateries here so you would not miss the area. Drive around and look out for Starbucks, the One Recipe Cafe is at the same row. The cafe is not very famous yet, so reservations are not required.
The type of food served here is Chinese and Thai styled cooking. From the set of meals that were served. I particularly loved their Prawn Rolls, King Crab Fish Head Noodles and Tom Yum Fresh Prawn Mee Hoon. Price basically ranges from RM3 upwards to RM89.90 for their Super King Crab Pot which serves 3-4 people. Their coffee are made fresh and I particularly loved the Mocha that was served. New on their drink menu are 5 types of freshly made herbal tea. For desserts, they have ice cream cakes of various flavor (triple chocolate, strawberry, oreo and almond). The place is quite clean and well maintained with air conditioning. For smokers, there are a couple of tables available outside the One Recipe Cafe. Wifi is available through Unifi services and that should technically give you fast internet access.
Now, let’s talk about the King Crab Fish Head Noodles. I’ve tasted many fish head noodles in my time, but to add crab in it made it taste a lot better. The soup expert, Mr Albert explained that the starch or rather the milky soup takes about 12 hours to prepare which includes simmering it, slow cooking it with 13 of their spices. The ingredients are all natural so it doesn’t have the MSG taste at all, which kind of blends the taste a little (I love MSG in my food). Just before they serve, wine is added to give it a further tinge in the taste. You can also customize your King Crab Fish Head Noodles based on your preference, whether being done without the wine, lesser milk, or more of a certain ingredients. The price still cost the same, which is at RM23.80 and serves 1-2 person. I am not going to lie, it did not taste as fantastic as some of the Fish Head Noodles that I’ve tried, but it is worth every penny that you pay.
The stall is Pork Free but I cannot guarantee that they have an official Halal Certification. If you’re a Standard Charted credit card holder, you may enjoy a 15% discount on all meals consumed. But to make things better, Thristhan.com is going to offer you a 50% Voucher off on any meals that is consumed at One Recipe Cafe in SS2 Petaling Jaya. @Tony Yeah bro, me too. So far only 1 claimed. 9 more left.
The finger food is a bit pricey la 4 Prawn balls for RM6-90 doesnt seem to worth it.
But the claypost crab and prawns noodles certainly worth the price. Yummy looking too
The last three photos of the dish makes me drooooool!
