Selangorlicious Restaurant Nor Cahaya Seafood, Pantai Remis, Jeram

When the launch of the second season of Selangorlicious started mid of June 2012, I was really excited not only because there was a total cash prize at RM36k (which you can learn about in my previous post, Selangorlicious Foodster Contest), but I was also quite confident in introducing some interesting places in Selangor to my readers that is located Klang and northwards. I believe most post would be talking around districts like Petaling, Subang Jaya, Ampang Jaya, Shah Alam and so on. Not many know good street food around places in Klang, Kuala Selangor or even as far as Sekinchan in Selangor.

Heading north after klang, you will pass a town called Jeram, this is where the famous Pantai Remis is located where I spend most weekends at. Sometimes for their delicious seafood, somethings to enjoy the windy breeze and watching kids play their kites, or probably just to try my luck at fishing. Most of the time, we end the day by having a meal at this beach side street style restaurant simply name Restaurant Nor Cahaya Seafood. Do not except any fancy decorations, or classy waitresses here. Since Tourism Selangor is promoting street food for their Selangorlicious campaign, this location would be perfect.

Restaurant Nor Cahaya is located on Pantai Remis itself, so the entire siting area is above the beach with white sand all around. Only about 4-5 meters away from the sea. We prefer going here at night to watch the sky usually filled with stars or during the sunset. The shop is owned by a man we simply call Abang and the cooking are done by his wife.

The best part is, he is a fisherman too, so early morning he goes out to sea to harvest it for sea creatures which usually comprise of Clamps, Crabs, Squids, assorted fishes and many more. Part of it he sells to market owners, and the rest he keeps it at his restaurant for customers to consume. We get to select the fishes before they start cooking it which may be steamed, fried or even grilled.

Our favorite dish is always their Baby Kailan with Salted Fish, Kerang Rebus and Lala Tiga Rasa. If you’re ambitious, grab a stingray to be grilled, some squid to be fried with flour and their Nasi Goreng Kampung (kampung style fried rice). The restaurant is only about 45 minutes away from Klang town which makes it perfect for a weekend night out. You may start your day at Pantai Remis early as there will be stalls selling many food and drinks as well as toys during weekends.
