Stadium Negara Restaurant

When I drive to work, I usually park a few meters away from office because the parking there is a lot cheaper. After getting a good spot, while on the way walking to office, I’ll pass by this uniquely named restaurant, Stadium Negara Restaurant. Initially not knowing it was a Restaurant, I wondered why would someone have a Stadium at this part of Kuala Lumpur. Finally yesterday I got a chance to feast and endeavour their old style Steamboat.

One of our colleague from the accounts department of Holiday Villa Hotels & Resorts was leaving us to venture into a better challenging career, with that we decided to treat Sharon to a dinner outing at Stadium Negara Restaurant. This restaurant is located on Jalan Yap Kwan Seng and is only 10 minutes walk away from Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Stadium Negara Restaurant is famous for their old style steamboat. What I mean with “old style” is that they use the conventional technique of Charcoal instead of heating up the steamboat with gas powered boiler. Stadium Negara is also famous for their other chinese dishes such as fried chicken wings, mantou, sweet and sour crab, butter prawns, grilled sotong, fried lala and many more. This place is mentioned as Halal and many Malay people have consumed here, but just a word of caution, they do serve beers.

Back to the Steamboat, service here is fantastic, we practically had to just sit down and the waiter assisted us in putting all the ingredients into the pot. We had an option of the regular flavoured soup and also the tomyum flavoured soup. Even our glasses was filled with tea everytime it was needed, vip service indeed. The ingredients consisted of ball stuffs, vegetable, eggs, prawn, noodles, squids, mushroom and toufu. At only RM18.80 per person, it was reasonable alright.

In terms of the taste, I would probably only rate it as a 7 out of 10 because I’ve been to many steamboats that tasted better. To name a few of those places, Restaurant Talipon at Kuchai Lama and a couple of stalls at Cheras. I felt that even the Buffet Flaming Steamboat at Sunway was way better because they had more variety.

To end this post, I would like to wish Sharon all the best in her future and hopefully we would meet up one day in the future for great outings like this.

Looks like a nice bro, but I’m not into steamboat that much. :D
I think should give them lower rating as you gave 7 over 10 for Flaming Steamboat, hehe…
