Tugu Keris Klang (Kris Monument)
Eventhough I was born in Kuala Lumpur, I’ve spend more than 20 years of my life in the town of Klang and have not really wrote much about this great city. So I will be featuring Klang in terms of things to do and food that you can get here. To start with today, I’m gonna tell you a little about the Tugu Keris, or in English it’s known as the Kris Monument.
A Kris is basically a dagger that is indigenous to Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Brunei and is famous for it’s wavy blades. It is believe that the Kris is used as both a weapon and also a spiritual object. So since Klang is the Royal City and used to be the Capital for Selangor (the capital is now Shah Alam) , they decided to design this huge Keris Monument that can be seen from the Federal Highway as you approach Klang heading from Kuala Lumpur.
As the name suggest, the Tugu Keris is located near Taman Kris and Sungai Rasau plaza toll. This is also said to be the biggest Kris here in Malaysia and has been standing tall since 1985. So the next time when you make a trip down to Klang Town, do go and check out the Tugu Keris. Bring your children along as there are interesting playgrounds for them to enjoy at the Kris Monument.
